A steel coil is a long, coiled strip of steel that is created by compressing and shaping the material as an efficient way of transporting or storing the steel in different facilities. Steel can be coiled multiple times throughout the process and is generally done at the end of every process, whether that be pickling, annealing, slitting, or galvanizing.
These coils vary in size, thickness, and weight depending on the process conducted, the size required by the customer, and how much weight certain machines can handle. The three common types of steel coils are hot rolled, cold rolled, and galvanized. Each type has unique characteristics suitable for different applications and industries.
