Temper rolling is the process of lightly cold rolling sheet steel by passing it through rollers that apply light deformation to strain the material. This is typically done after the annealing process, or hot roll after pickling. The primary purpose of this additional process is to relieve the internal stresses that may have been introduced during the previous annealing. Rolling also improves the surface finish, mechanical properties, and flatness of the steel that could be required for specific applications.
