Shaping a Decarbonized Future

Worthington Steel actively supports the decarbonization of transportation and the broader clean energy transition through several products and services we provide.

Investments for Growth in Fiscal 2024

  • Invested in capacity expansions at our facilities in Mexico and Canada that produce steel solutions for electric vehicles and electric grid infrastructure.
  • Expanded automotive lightweighting capabilities of our TWB joint venture through a licensing agreement for patented ablation technology.
  • Processed more than 67,000 tons of galvanized steel for the solar industry for use in solar panel racking or mounting.

Geoff Gilmore, President & CEO of Worthington Steel

We have a strong foundation, including a people-first Philosophy, built on nearly 70 years of heritage, that guides our strategy and actions around environmental, social and governance initiatives. I’m excited about our unique position to continue this important work as we drive the steel industry into a more sustainable future."

Social

Safety First

We are dedicated to the belief that people are our most important asset, making the health and safety of our employees, and anyone entering our facilities, our top priority.

We do that by complying with or exceeding all applicable regulations and legal requirements and through our SafeWorks program, an occupational health and safety management system we’ve had in place for more than two decades.

Social

Investing in our People

Taking care of our people stems from Our Philosophy and the belief that people respond to recognition, opportunities for growth and fair compensation.

In fiscal 2024, our people completed 65,000 hours of training, averaging more than 25 hours per employee. While we build our internal talent, we are also committed to attracting and retaining employees who help us drive our success and their own.

Social

Strengthening our Communities

Practicing good citizenship, supporting worthwhile causes and encouraging our people to actively participate in community affairs, has long been a part of Our Philosophy.

Through The Worthington Companies Foundation, funded by both Worthington Steel and Worthington Enterprises, we have contributed $3 million to 73 organizations in our focus areas of health, human services, youth and education and civic causes. A total of 2,000 hours were spent volunteering through events and fundraising activities.

Governance

Doing What's Right

Consistent with the core values of Our Philosophy, we are committed to operating our business with high ethical standards and business practices. From Board oversight to proactively managing risks, along with our robust supplier expectations and quality programs, we are committed to strong governance.
